I live in the
Sandy area of
Salt Lake City,
Utah
with my wife Kirsti and our daughter Tasman. I teach in the math
department at
Westminster College.
Kirsti and I both hail from
West Valley City, Utah,
graduates of Hunter High School, class of '95.
I started my freshman year at Vanderbilt University in
Nashville, Tennessee in the fall of 1995. The
following summer I took a two-year leave of absence from Vanderbilt to serve a
mission for my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in
Bilbao,
Spain. (The mission office was in Bilbao, but I spent time all over
northern Spain: Vigo, Palencia, El Ferrol, Las Arenas near Bilbao, and La Coruņa.)
When I returned in 1998 I resumed my sophomore year at Vanderbilt. My wife
and I got married in 2000 and I graduated
in 2001 with a B.S. in mathematics and music.
We spent seven years in the
Mira Mesa area of
San Diego, California
while I earned my Ph.D. in mathematics
from the
University of California, San Diego.
(I earned an M.A. along the way.) You can see more about my geek side (arguably my only side)
by clicking on the "math" link to the left. While finishing up
my degree, I had an
adjunct faculty position at
Miramar College.
